Pooja: Alexander McQueen Shoes, An Interesting Design

I thought that these shoes were really interesting because of their complex and intriguing shape/form.
I believe that they contain both historic and futuristic elements. The red-and-black color scheme as well as the intricately detailed pattern and ankle-ties are reminiscent and representative of the ancient Chinese foot-binding process. However, the unique shape is very modern, to a point of transcending modern/current and proceeding to futuristic.
I think that the shoes also represent power, because of their height and the red-and-black detailing, which is quite intense and strong. Funnily enough, in ancient China, during the time of foot binding, women had absolutely no power, but these shoes, reminiscent of that time, actually make women wearing them look MORE powerful.
Ironically, although the shoes are structurally very interesting, one of their purposes is to allow the wearer to walk, which is allegedly very difficult.
So, although the shoes are aesthetically very dynamic and interesting, they do not accomplish what they were aimed to do (their function).
